Good news for msg: The IT and consulting company has been listed for the first time in the renowned Lünendonk list “The Market for Digital Experience Services in Germany”, coming in sixth at the first attempt. This result reflects the company's expertise and commitment to innovative solutions in the field of digital services.

The major future task for companies is to manage the multitude of communication channels and to extract comprehensive knowledge from customer data from different data silos and make it usable. This will allow them to make the entire customer dialog more personal and individual. msg accompanies organizations on this path, focusing on added value for people. After all, sustainable digital business models can only be developed if a solid technological foundation is in place and the needs of people are taken into account at the same time. msg’s inclusion in the Lünendonk list of “Digital Experience Services” shows that this is the right strategy.

About the survey

For Lünendonk's 2023 list of “Leading Providers of Digital Experience Services in Germany,” the IT market research and consulting firm used a multi-stage evaluation process to identify service providers that support companies in digital experience projects as full-service providers. Lünendonk defines “digital experience services” as the project-specific combination of various disciplines, expertise and skills that are required for the development and implementation of customer-centric strategies. These include topics such as customer experience consulting, customer journey analyses, UX design and IT implementation services such as software development and system integration. To be included in the Lünendonk list, providers must generate at least 60 percent of their revenue from management and IT consulting, digital agency services, software development and implementation, and systems integration. They must also generate either at least 30 percent of total revenue or at least 100 million euro with digital experience services.

Since opening in October 1998 with six employees, the location has grown steadily and today counts more than 600 professionals. This makes msg in Passau not only the second largest private-sector employer, but also the largest software employer in all of Lower Bavaria. This development enables the company to offer its employees the security and advantages of a "large medium-sized company" without neglecting the family spirit and the “Spirit of Passau” atmosphere, as location manager Dr. Armin Bender underlined during the anniversary celebration.

Festivities at the msg location with 450 guests and casino atmosphere

The new building in Dr.-Hans-Kapfinger-Straße was only inaugurated in January of this year. Location manager Dr. Armin Bender emphasized the strong connection with the city of Passau: “The 25-year celebration of msg's Passau location marks not only a quarter of a century of successful business activity but also the deep roots of the company in the region". The invited guests included the location's employees, msg CEO Dr. Jürgen Zehetmaier and executive board member Andrea van Aubel. Dr. Armin Bender welcomed the three company founders Hans Zehetmaier, Herbert Enzbrenner and Pius Pflüger as special guests of honor. The msg group has been a member of the Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA) since October 1, 2023. The alliance advocates the joint establishment and development of the standardized digital twin for the industry. Since its founding in September 2020 with 23 founding companies, more than 100 companies from the electronic and digital industry, mechanical engineering, the software industry and end users have come together to implement the digital twin based on the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). msg as one of the largest German IT and consulting companies will contribute its extensive experience to the IDTA network in the future.

“Europe has understood that it is necessary to create data ecosystems with cross-company data standards. Currently, Europe in particular seems to be taking a pioneering role here. As msg, we will work to ensure broad acceptance of initiatives related to AAS,” emphasizes Dr. Wolfgang Bock, department manager Industry 4.0 Transformation & Sustainability at msg.

Dr. Christian Mosch, managing director of IDTA, adds: "We are looking forward to welcoming msg as new member of IDTA. The IT and consulting company's membership offers us the opportunity to increase the visibility of AAS as a core standard for digital twins and to accelerate its range of applications. Ultimately, the entire industry will benefit from this and across all sectors."

IDTA's goal is to establish the digital twin for components, machinery, facilities and complete factories as an open source technology and to further develop it together with the industry. Thanks to open standards, AAS allows information to be exchanged across manufacturers. Coordination between development, production and use is improved. Redundant and inconsistent information management is reduced. This reduces effort, integration time and costs throughout the value chain. In addition to productivity, efficiency and transparency, the AAS also makes a valuable contribution, especially with regard to the environment and climate protection as well as to a future circular economy. Associated with this are potentials for new business models for small and medium-sized factory equipment suppliers as well as for large end users.
